Seeking Innovative Project Proposals
At the Albert Schweitzer Fund, we believe that innovation is key to solving some of the most pressing healthcare challenges across Africa. By “innovative,” we mean solutions that go beyond traditional methods. These embrace creativity, technology, or new approaches to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and effective for communities in need.
We encourage projects that think outside the box and tackle healthcare issues in novel ways. For example:
- 3D Printing for Prosthetics: A project in Sierra Leone that developed a 3D printer capable of producing affordable prosthetics in diverse skin tones, significantly improving accessibility for amputees.
- Mobile Health Solutions: An app that brings healthcare closer to people in remote areas, allowing community health professionals to receive timely medical advice and support so patients can be advised on the spot.
- Reusable Vacuum Pump for Safe Deliveries: A user-friendly, reusable vacuum pump designed to assist in safe childbirths, ensuring that mothers and babies in underserved areas receive the care they need.
- Dance for Mental Health: A project that uses dance as a way to open up discussions about mental health issues, creating a supportive environment where stigmas can be broken.
We are looking for ideas like these—projects that introduce new technologies, cultural approaches, or creative solutions to healthcare challenges. Whether through the use of apps, advanced medical devices, or community-driven programs, we want to support innovative approaches that have the potential to make a lasting impact on healthcare in Africa.
If you have a project that brings fresh ideas and transformative solutions, we encourage you to submit a proposal.
