NeoSkill-link App Project – Uganda
Maandag 10 maart 2025
This innovative initiative is designed to improve newborn care outcomes in Uganda’s Elgon region, specifically in vulnerable, underserved communities. By leveraging digital communication tools, the app aims to create a collaborative network that allows specialized and non-specialized healthcare teams to work together remotely, regardless of geographical constraints or other barriers, to bridge gaps in expertise and create a support system for caregivers in remote areas.
Dr. Olupot’s work in training lower-level institutions in eastern Uganda highlights a gap in knowledge and skills in newborn care, particularly in smaller health facilities. While training programs, such as in-service courses, have been shown to improve newborn care, without continuous follow-up support, the quality of care often drops over time. Continuous expert collaboration, support, and follow-up would ensure that trainees maintain and improve their skills long after initial training.
